As a result of his skill and experience in analytical and financial modeling combined with capabilities in corporate finance and strategic development and implementation, Waseem has established a proven track record of driving positive asset performance. He has enhanced collaborative relationships and built partnerships across teams, while cultivating strong connections with property and facility managers associated with the real estate assets in the portfolios he oversees.
A native of Canada, Waseem Malleye currently serves as Vice President of International Real Estate for SEDCO Capital. Headquartered in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, with an office in London, U.K., SEDCO Capital functions as the investment arm of the Saudi Economic and Development Holding Company.
At the company, Waseem’s duties include finding, evaluating, and executing U.S. commercial real estate-related investments for the company. He advances and executes the company’s U.S. investment strategy, trains and manages associates and analysts, works with SEDCO’s internal teams related to tax, legal, and treasury duties and coordinates their operations with outside advisors. He is also responsible for underwriting public and private investment opportunities in various formats and risk profiles. He is also charged with all asset management and reporting functions.
Before his time at SEDCO, Waseem served as Director of Asset Management for Integrated Asset Management Group, located in Toronto. At the firm, he was responsible for asset management and reporting, long-term strategies, and fund-level budget management.
Earlier in his career, Waseem was the Director of Retail Asset Management at Triovest Realty Advisors. In that role, he was responsible for managing the Canada Pension Plan Investment Board’s real estate portfolio, which included power centers, grocery-anchored centers, and enclosed malls. During his time with the company, he also found ways to improve the portfolio’s performance in order to increase financial returns, with the changes he initiated resulting in higher returns. Waseem was also tasked with divesting the entire portfolio, which was accomplished for $2.1 billion USD.
Prior to working at Triovest Realty, Waseem served as Director of Asset Management at RioCan Real Estate Investment Trust in Toronto. There, he managed a portfolio worth $3.2 billion in value and that included 77 properties. During his nine years with the company, he achieved average annual increases in net operating income of 2.1 percent on the portfolio.
Waseem graduated from the University of Toronto in 2003 with a bachelor’s degree in economics.
